I have to admit I am fully out of touch on the whole PD/Homebrew thing on the Amiga. Starting back up again with all these new games is quite overwhelming, but I came across this preview of a game that has bags of potential.
Futrum Secrum is the work of jojo037 and Zoltar with the aim for it to work on all Amiga systems. The game currently is in Portuguese, but don't let that stop from playing the demo. I am sure once the game is complete translation will come in due time.
The story is that you have been ordered to kill all of the magical nasties and make a clear path to Santiago. For now, that's as far as the story goes in the demo, but I am sure there will be more in the demo.
The game itself reminds me to Ghosts'n Goblins only the pace is slightly slower. The graphics are really good and for just 2 people working on the game, you really can see they have put in some major work. Of course being a demo it needs a few nips and tucks but nothing really major.
Music is also very good and keeps in with the medieval theme. The only thing that lets it down a the moment is the sound effects but I am sure it will get fixed by the time a full version is released.
Now you may think why am I covering this game when it's not for the Amiga CD32. Well, I can see a lot of potential in this game to be on CD. The music for one could be CD audio and you could use real instruments to really add effect. Talking about effects, with the music being CD audio you have could have more effects for certain things.
An additional FMV intro could be added too if there is enough time showing the story of your quest and little cut scenes in between each level.
Ok, I will stop now as I am getting too excited in all this, but at the end of the day its up to the devs and how much time they really have. I am sure if they wanted to do some kind of funding the Amiga community would help. I know what ever happens I am really looking forward to this games full release.
If you would like to play this demo on your Amiga then there is a disk image in the links below.
